Educational Concert
“BREU PASSEIG PEL JAZZ” (A Walt to jazz)

With an aproximate length of an hour, this concert’s main objective is to show the main connections between jazz and today’s music, including whats been called Disco Music and all those different variations risen among Urban Tribes. The development of these explanations will be accompanied with an slide presentation to help the viewer keep a visual reference, both in time and the particular trends of an specific era.

The chosen repertoire consists of compositions that have become key tunes throughout jazz history being also representative of each decade. Speech and music throught the concert will be conducted by The Miranda Jazz Quartet, consisting of guitar, tenor sax, bass and drums. As well, at different moments of the concert Antoni Miranda will provide a brief explanation of the instruments mentioned above, explaining their origins, evolution and importance in style making special reference to the saxophone as a key instrument in jazz music, and also regarding the use of electric guitar, including a small technical explanation of its operation to end with a brief synopsis of its history and the possibilities that new technologies o er to musicians.

The show divides the different music trends in decades from the late 19th century, with an special mention to Blues -as considered the beginning of modern music and therefore the beginning of jazz. Following, the characteristics of blues harmony and the difference between it and popular European music. Moving on the concert, different jazz styles in chronological order, while playing a composition of each of them: Ragtime, New Orleans, Dixieland, Chicago, swing, bebop, cool jazz, Latin jazz, the 70, Acid Jazz.
