Sterlin

Sterlin performs “Cançons d’amor i odi”, by Leonard Cohen

A concert in tribute to the Canadian musician, poet and novelist Leonard Cohen. Sterlin, an internationally acclaimed group based in Mallorca, led by Adela Peraita and Steve Withers, recreates Leonard Cohen’s songbook and brings it closer to the Mallorcan audience by translating the illustrious Canadian’s lyrics into Catalan.

With Sterlin, Cohen’s velvety compositions meet the nerves and rage of the times, songs that range from caress to punch, masterfully mixing delicacy and energy.

Live they surprise because they convincingly handle different levels of intensity and envelop us in a disturbing and mysterious atmosphere thanks to the good work of powerful musicians who defend them with intensity and elegance on stage.

For this special tribute, Sterlin has chosen Leonard Cohen’s third album, “Songs Of Love And Hate” (“Cançons d’Amor i Odi”). An album released in 1971 and considered one of his most personal and emotional works. In each song, relationships and emotions are presented under different prisms and love, hate, the spiritual and the physical build a visceral and moving album.

In addition to their version, in Catalan, of the songs included in the album “Songs Of Love And Hate”, Sterlin complete the concert repertoire with some of Cohen's greatest hits, such as “Hallelujah” or “Suzanne” (the latter in their original English version).

Leonard Cohen, Canadian musician, poet and novelist, considered one of the most influential authors of our time, his poems and songs have explored with depth and beauty the great questions of the human being. Prince of Asturias Award for Letters 2011. His work has influenced three generations around the world, through the creation of a sentimental imaginary in which poetry and music merge into an unalterable value.
