Anna Ferrer & Marco Mezquida

Llucmajor / Claustre de Sant Bonaventura

FRIDAY, 1 DECEMBER 2023, AT 21:00H.

Anna Ferrer, Voices

Marco Mezquidea, Piano.

We cannot think of a better way to kick off the festival than with this magnificent duo of aces, perfectly balanced, and here we are not only referring to gender but also to the contribution of talent.

On stage, we will see two great artists but also two friends, thanks to the bond created by being born in the same city (Mahón, Menorca) and their shared passion for music and creation. Mezquida and Ferrer combine their musical universes in this concert and allow themselves to be carried away by surprise, dedication, and risk.

The pianist Marco Mezquida (Maó, 1987) is today one of the artists with the greatest international projection that Menorca has given to the world, having filled auditoriums and festivals in cities across four continents, from Tokyo to New York, Berlin, and Paris. At 36 years old, he has already recorded 25 albums as a leader and more than 60 as part of other projects, and in recent years he averages 90 to 100 concerts annually, of which more than a third are international. He has received numerous prestigious awards such as the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2022 and the City of Barcelona Award 2019. The list of great musicians he has worked with, both in recordings and live performances, is extensive (Silvia Pérez Cruz, Salvador Sobral, Andrea Motis, Noa, Lee Konitz, Perico Sambeat…).

The singer and songwriter Anna Ferrer (Mahón, 1993) discovered that she wanted to dedicate her life to music at just 3 years old. Anna seeks her inspiration in the traditional legacy, but more than being part of folklore, she likes to define herself as a “fetishist of the old,” rescuing and reinterpreting tradition to incorporate it into her creations. She began her professional solo career in 2017, with the release of her first album, ‘Tel·lúria’, a heartfelt tribute to her homeland, Menorca. In 2019, she released her second work, ‘Krönia’, where she elevated folklore to a more universal sound, making incursions into electronic bases. In addition to her personal endeavour, Anna collaborates with other musicians and is a soloist in various collective projects, such as ‘Trencadís’ with the Orquestra de Música d’Arrel de Catalunya.
