Nathalie Loriers Trio
Esporles / Casa des Poble
MONDAY, 4 DECEMBER 2023, AT 20:00H.
Nathalie Loriers, piano
Fabrice Alleman , saxand clarinet
Sam Gertsmans, double bass
What originally was a special concert for the Gaume Jazz Festival in 2016 has become a long-term project. Nathalie Loriers has found in this intimate trio format the perfect vehicle for expressing herself musically and artistically.
Regarded as one of the great names in Belgian jazz of recent decades, Nathalie Loriers is an elegant pianist, highly melodic, with a sharp lyricism, as well as an exquisite interpretative and rhythmic technique. Her compositions are elegantly intelligent, born from emotions and constructed with brilliant harmonic resources, which she interprets in a surprising manner, with both heart and mind.
In this concert, she will be fabulously accompanied by the great saxophonist Fabrice Alleman, with whom she has been collaborating for many years, and the imaginative and also brilliant double bassist Sam Gertsmans.
Born in 1966 in Namur (Belgium), Nathalie Loriers learned classical music before becoming interested in jazz. At the age of 23, she was chosen as the "Best Young Talent in the Country" by alternatilla.com and the Belgian Association of Jazz Critics, and she also received the first jazz award granted by the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music. She soon became one of the most prominent artists in Belgian jazz. Throughout her career, she has continually received recognition and awards: the Django D'Or, the Bobby Jaspar Prize, and being named Pianist of the Year.
Since 2002, he has been a pianist with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, without giving up international tours with his trio and combining this with his work as a teacher.
