The brilliant and hyperactive Toni Vaquer, big band musician, composer, pianist, and master of masters, leads this super band of eight talents whose primary motivation is music. As a good conductor, Vaquer ensures that the group functions as one, thanks to the effort, energy, and human and musical involvement of each and every member of the band.
Born in Mallorca, Toni Vaquer is a musical personality, not only on the island but also in regions like Catalonia. He is one of the cornerstones of the pedagogical project at the Liceu Conservatory, where he directs the Liceu Gran Ensemble. He has faced numerous and diverse challenges since completing his training at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston: setting up a big band, writing the arrangements for the 'Tribute to Salvador Font Mantequilla' for the Glissando Big Band, collaborating and recording alongside the most prominent musicians in the national scene, or expressing his vision through big band arrangements of the 'Quartet for the End of Time' by the French composer Olivier Messiaen.
He stands out for his creativity and a restlessness that leads him to engage with different genres: jazz, classical, contemporary, and even rock. Vaquer is in a constant search for new avenues of expression and the creation of new repertoire.
This formation presented at the festival is, like everything Vaquer does, an interesting 'work in progress', not because it is unfinished but due to this incessant adventure of always "going further" alongside this brilliant musician and his travel companions, together they fill the stage with formidable talent.
