MANEL ESCLUSA

The Porreres City Council and the Alternatilla Festival are hosting the exhibition “Barcelona, skin and shadow”, a photographic exhibition by Manel Esclusa.

Visitors will be able to find urban and nighttime photographs taken between 1980 and 2010 that explore and reveal unknown aspects of emblematic places in the city, as well as other urban spaces that are difficult to identify due to the artist’s vision of them.

This nighttime vision of Barcelona’s urban skin can be seen at the Porreres Museum and Art Collection, located in the old Hospital building on Reverend Agustí Font Street, from October 28 to November 18, between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Through Manel Esclusa’s photographs, the viewer will embark on a dreamlike, nighttime stroll through the city of Barcelona, in front of a proposal for reflection on the urban environment that surrounds us.

Manel Esclusa (Vic, 1952) is one of the leading authors of contemporary photography and one of the most restless in the search for the representation of the environment. Throughout his career he has published five books, the last in 2010 entitled Barcelona, pell i ombra with the publishing house 'Nova Era Barcelona' and the collaboration of the Barcelona City Council. The exhibition at the Museu i fons artístic de Porreres is based on the content of this last book, from which 50 images have been selected out of the 140 that form part of it.
