The skin of compás, the piano’s song.
Del alma (2024) is the third chapter in the shared journey of Chicuelo, Marco Mezquida and Paco de Mode, their travel-mate since the outset: writing across four hands and three hearts where flamenco finds fresh ways to speak with piano and percussion. A project where flamenco guitar and piano shape a language of their own. A trilogy that closes, and, at the same time, opens up.
This music doesn’t add genres—it crosses them. Flamenco lineage, classical lyricism and Mediterranean breath weave through, with room to breathe so each piece unfolds like a scene. The effect is an intimate intensity that asks you to listen inward.
The set threads bulerías, rumbas, tanguillos and ballads; a fluid landscape where compás is the compass and silence, its territory.
At the Teatre Principal de Palma’s Great Hall—a venue with 300+ years of history— the set gains breadth and detail: heartbeat bulerías, opening rumbas and ballads that glow in the hush. A chance to experience the record as if it were being written in front of us
An evening to remember that “del alma (from the soul)” is also a way of hearing.
