The Italian musician based in New York, Pasquale Grasso, is a true guitar virtuoso who has developed a spectacular and original technique inspired not only by great jazz guitarists but also by bebop pioneers like Powell, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. When asked in an interview by the legendary Pat Metheny about musicians who have impressed him, he said: "The best guitarist I’ve ever heard, perhaps in my entire life, is Pasquale Grasso. What he does is incredibly difficult and extraordinary, he has captured the essence of piano language and somehow transferred it to guitar."
In his discography stand out the series of recordings for Sony Masterworks in which Pasquale explores standards, ballads and the repertoire of Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell and Charlie Parker, showing his incredible skills with the guitar.
Alternatilla Jazz will be performed in a quartet format accompanied by his brother Luigi Grasso on saxophone, Marko Lohikari on double bass and Joan Terol on drums.
