Joan Terol Amigó

This workshop serves as an introduction to one of the most important elements of music. Rhythm is a qualitative division of time and a fundamental element of music that is perceived through the senses and movements. The aim is to expand expressive and musical skills by discovering and exploring the elements that make up rhythm.

Tempo, meter, pulsation and subdivision are key concepts to set up a solid foundation that allows for accurate execution of rhythm. These basic concepts will be worked on through different auditory examples and practical exercises (with and without an instrument).

Workshop led by musician Joan Terol Amigó, an initiative promoted thanks to the collaboration with Andreu Julià and the music schools of Llucmajor and Esporles.

Joan Terol Amigó (Reus, 1985) develops his musical career from Amsterdam, where he lives, although he remains connected to the Catalan music scene. Currently, his main projects are Xavi Torres Trio, Néstor Giménez Quintet, The BvR Flamenco Big Band, Mehmet Polat, Henk Kraaijeveld, Nomadic Treasures, Trempera! and Els Tres Tenors and he teaches at the Tallers Musicals d'Avinyó. Throughout his musical career he has had the opportunity to play with top figures such as Benny Golson, Lee Konitz, Jordi Rossy, Jesse Davis, Maria Schneider, Grant Stewart, Joe Magnarelli, Perico Sambeat, Reinier Baas or Ben van Gelder.Grant Stewart, Joe Magnarelli, Perico Sambeat, Reinier Baas or Ben van Gelder.
