The Rite of Trio

The Rite of Trio is a Jambacore Jazz trio from northern Portugal. André Bastos Silva, guitar; Filipe Louro, double bass; and Pedro Melo Alves, drummer. Their debut album was released in December 2018.

This is how they introduce themselves: 

“Where, where is the loose end of the musical thread that we find ourselves today? It could be at the beginning of the 20th century with the last great works of erudite composers, Or it could be in the 70s with the so-called foretold death of jazz. Or somewhere in today’s musical landscape, guided not by Art but by the sense of cultural numbness that they try to make us believe is the norm. 

The Rite of Trio dives into the thread and grabs some of these loose ends, which still pulsate with the gifts of Stravinsky or the fun smell of Zappa, and embraces the erroneously utopian idea of ​​highly intellectual, yet passionately fervent, musical creation.
