The Alternatilla Cultural Association presents a new edition of their jazz festival:
The sixth Alternatilla Jazz Festival, from the 1st to the 11th of december 2022 in Mallorca and Menorca, and this year the focus is on Italian jazz. During the two weeks of the festival, we are building a connecting bridge between Italy and the Balearic Islands, and we will enjoy exciting live music.
We’re replicating the «magic» formula we’ve been using since the beginning :
→ One concert per day during the two weeks of the festival with a carefully curated line-up which includes a good selection of artists coming from the guest country – and this year it’s Italy – selected from the upcoming new names to the most renowned, and completing the line-up with an interesting list of Spanish artists, including a good local representation from Mallorca and the Balearic islands.
→ This is a travelling festival with concerts in different towns and municipalities of the Balearic islands. This year we will be going to (in chronological order) : Porreres, Inca, Palma, Sa Pobla, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Ciutadella, Pollença, Muro, Llucmajor and Esporles.
→ Promoting a cultural exchange and a bond between musicians from different territories, thanks to the concerts we label as ménage à jazz (festival’s own brand name), where local musicians share the stage with those coming from abroad.
→ Together with the concerts, the festival’s program is completed with an interesting educational program with workshops, educational shows and pro sessions.
Our goal is to put the focus each year in the jazz scene of a different country, inviting their musicians to come and play here. In 2022 the guest country is Italy.
For the majority of the public in the islands, the Italian jazz scene is a mystery, it’s hardly known even though Italian jazz is one of the most interesting in Europe.
Italian jazz stands out by its vibrant artistic expression and an inquisitive spirit, with many high profile and internationally renowned jazz musicians.
And that’s why the goal of Alternatilla Jazz 2022 is to get to know the current Italian jazz scene and to show the audacious creativity and the highly skilled performances of an interesting selection of Italian artists.
The festival’s program includes not only internationally renowned names but also the up and coming new artists which are the future of the music scene of this European country. And together with the Italian musicians, the line-up also includes fantastic musicians from Mallorca and some interesting names of national and international jazz.
